Renovo - Margaret C. (Colquhoun) Hall, age 88, of died peacefully at her residence on Sunday, November 11, 2007 with her family at her side. She was born in Philadelphia on March 10, 1919, daughter of the late Jack and Gertrude (Schneider) Colquhoun. Margaret grew up in the Philadelphia area, primarily the Roxborough suburb where she attended St. Joseph's School and also completed one year of Business School. She also volunteered at Roxborough Memorial Hospital as a candy striper. During these early years, she worked at several different jobs and during this time, she met her future husband, John Edward Hall Sr. with whom she spent 63 years of marital bliss until his death in Sept. 2004. John served in the Marine Corps for 8 years during WWII and they returned to the Renovo-Shintown area when the war ended. John worked for a local plumbing company for a while and eventually started his own business that Margaret assisted him with. Realizing their love for travel and the service life, John enlisted in the Army. serving for 16 years, with his last post being Ft. Dix N. Jersey until his retirement in 1966. During this time, Margaret kept up their home, worked for W.T. Grant, worked for the borough of Pemberton in N. Jersey, and served as a school crossing guard. While serving as a crossing guard, she was awarded an honorary position as a deputy sheriff. She later became president of the Pemberton Borough School Board and served for 10 years. Upon retirement, John and Margaret moved back the Shintown because they loved the area and the people living there. This allowed them to be closer to John's two brothers: Charles of Tamarack and William "Bob" of Shintown. Margaret is a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, Westport Hospital League, Marine Corps League Auxillary, American Legion Ladies auxiliary, Red Cross Blood Drive Volunteer, and the Bucktail Medical Center auxiliary. John and Margaret were both active members of the Renovo Senior Citizens Group, and the Dutch Craft Club which was a traveling trailer group. For many years, John and Margaret opened their home and welcomed young people from various Pa. communities who came to Renovo to participate in the Flaming Foliage Festival. Margaret and John were blessed with two children: John E. (Ginny) Hall Jr. of Eastampton, New Jersey and Margaret Anne Bullen of Shintown. Margaret has six grandchildren: Elizabeth, John E. "Rocky"and wife Laurel, and Joseph. (the children of John Jr. and Ginny) and Samantha and fiance Fred Risley, Amy Lullo, and Jaimie (the children of Margaret Anne). Four great grandchildren also survive: Aaron, Alexa, Jacob, and Savannah along with numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded by two sisters and her grandson: Robert. She was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew her. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Renovo at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday with Fr. Jozef Kovacik officiating. Interment will take place in Indiantown Gap Veteran's Cemetery at the family's convenience. The family will receive friends at the Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo, from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening. Memorials are requested to Bucktail Medical Center in Renovo.
