Margaret A. “Marge” (Renschler) Arcieri, 91, formerly of Queens, NY, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 2, 2025 at Pleasant Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in York.
She suffered a stroke and complications in early 2024. She had a long stay at Pappus House before “graduating” from hospice and transferring to Pleasant Acres early this year. She enjoyed exceptional care at both facilities. Her family is truly grateful for all the loving hours of care and special efforts made on a daily basis since her hospitalization in 2024; they did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
A service to celebrate Marge’s life will be 10:00 am Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1502 4th Ave & Ogontz Streets, York with The Reverend Grant Ambrose officiating. A light luncheon will immediately follow the service. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 am at the church. Burial will be at Blymire’s UCC Cemetery, Dallastown. The service will also be webcast live and can be viewed by searching Marge’s obituary at HeffnerCare.com. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, York is in charge of arrangements.
Born in Queens, New York on September 12, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Katherine (Reame) Renschler. She was the wife of the late Rocco R. Arcieri, who died June 11, 1996.
Marge had been a secretary, then while raising her family she was a Cafeteria Manager for many years. She worked at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, NY, where she also managed the Professor’s Lounge, and also worked with Newfield High School in Selden, NY. She was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed music, crocheting, knitting, hanging at the pool, water aerobics, weekly shopping trips, and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Before and after moving to York, she went on many cruises and trips with her friend Eileen Stine.
She is survived by her son, Dr. Rocco R. Arcieri II, and his wife Kelly of York; her daughter, Joanne Galgano, recently of York. She was Nana to two grandsons, Dr Michael Arcieri, Matthew Arcieri and wife, Sara, and a granddaughter, Mia Arcieri; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Blaha and her brother, Fred J. Renschler.
Marge raised her family in Long Island. Then she and her husband retired and moved to Florida when his health was failing. With the birth of her 3rd grandchild she moved to York, PA in 2002 to be closer to her family. She never lost her New York accent. Family and friends enjoyed imitating this accent as they lovingly recreated many of her now famous family quotes. Marge loved to talk with people and could strike up a conversation with anyone.
She will be missed as Mom, Nana, and friend. We can say “Good Bye” to her now and look to see her again in heaven.
Flowers may be sent to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church for the service, or memorial donations may be made in her name to Pappus House, 66 Big Mount Rd., Thomasville, PA 17364.
