YORK – Malcolm M. 'Mack' Lampkin, 64, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012 at Golden Living Center in Gettysburg. He was the husband of Margaret (Washington) Lampkin to whom he was married for 43 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with full military rites provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Pastor Teacher George R. Pointer, M.Div. will be officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Chapel. Private burial will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Born June 7, 1948 in Lilian, VA, a son of the late Leroy A. and Hilda M. (Curry) Lampkin, he retired from the US Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg where he had received numerous awards. As a child, Mr. Lampkin attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Burgess, VA. He was a former member of F& AM Friendship Hall Lodge, was an avid bowler, and enjoyed playing softball. Mr. Lampkin loved traveling with his wife and spending time with his granddaughter. He was a US Army veteran of The Vietnam War. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lampkin is survived by two daughters, Pamela D. Lampkin of Chester, PA and Dana L. Lampkin of York; a granddaughter, Peyton M. Lampkin; a brother, Walter Lampkin of Burgess; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by a brother, Purnell Lampkin. Memorial contributions may be made to York’s Helping Hands for the Homeless, 412 West King Street, York, PA 17404.
