YORK - Mahlon T. “Pete” Ness, 88, died on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Manor Care South. He was the husband of the late Esther M. (Myers) Ness, who died on May 6, 2010. The couple wed on July 28, 1951. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Rd., Dallastown with Pastor Duane Bahn officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born on July 26, 1929 in York, he was a son of the late Charles G. and Helen M. (Ness) Ness. Pete was a warehouse worker for Associated Wholesalers for 43 years. After retiring, he worked at Shurfine for 19 years. Mr. Ness was a member of Codorus Church of the Brethren. He loved gardening and working in the yard. Pete also enjoyed playing board games, playing cards and going out to breakfast with his family and friends. Mr. Ness is survived by one daughter, Patricia “Pattie” Wright and husband, Todd of New Freedom; two grandchildren, Emily L. Wright of New Freedom and Matthew S. Wright of York; one brother, Charles “Butch” Ness of Seven Valleys; and two sisters, Ruth Bahn and husband, Curtis of York and Janice Force and husband, David of York. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Amy L. Ness; three brothers, Ray E. Ness, Richard Ness and Laverne “Bud” Ness; and three sisters, Blanche Kreiser, Miriam Stremmel and Beatrice Innerst.
