TROY- Madeline A. (Gernert) Doty age 86 of Columbia Cross Roads, PA passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at the Troy Community Hospital. Madeline was born January 9, 1925, one of five children of the late Eugene V. and Harriet (Wilson) Gernert. She was married to Merle A. Doty December 5, 1944. Madeline was employed at Westinghouse in Elmira, Troy Silk Factory Troy and Eureka in Troy until she retired. She loved her time spent with family, mowing her lawn, and bingo. Madeline was also a 4-H leader and 4-H square dance leader. In her spare time, Madeline enjoyed quilting, and made quilts for all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching the birds and bears that wondered into her yard. Survived by children: Daughters-Harriet (Dennis Sr.) Rathbun of Leona, Lynette (Lee) Becker of Granville, Son-Edward of Columbia Cross Roads, Step-Daughters- Eldora (Larry) LaRue of Knoxville, TN, Carolyn Butler, Elmira, NY. Grandchildren- Dennis Jr (Mary) Rathbun, Darin (Kristi) Rathbun, Marcie (Kim) Jennings, Benjamin (Christy) McClure, Zachary (Nikki) Rogers, Jill (Bill) Graham, Daniel Doty. Step-Grandchildren- David Kisner, Tommy (Jeanne) LaRue, Kimberly (Joe) McBride, Cassandra Kelsall, Wayne Kelsall, Michael Kelsall, 26 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Sister In-Laws-Helen MacDowell, and Madeline Doty. Madeline was predeceased by her husband, Merle, Grandson- DeeJay McClure, Great Grandson-Zackary Kelsall, her parents, siblings- Kenneth, Jack, Betty, Bertha, and their spouses. Friends and Family are invited to call from 6 to 8 on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc., 1093 West Main Street, Troy, PA, with Interment Thursday, August 4, 2011 for family and friends at Bradford County Memorial Park, Towanda, PA with Pastor Jody Kenyon of the Leona United Methodist Church officiating.
