Madaline A. (Strayer) Thoman

WEST YORK - Madaline A. (Strayer) Thoman, 96, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018. She was the wife of the late L. Harry Thoman. A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 14th at 11:00 AM in Red Run Cemetery, 6623 Davidsburg Rd., East Berlin. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 31, 1921 in Kralltown, the daughter of the late Lloyd D. and Florence B. (Gochenour) Strayer, she was a 1939 graduate of Dillsburg High School. Madaline was a mother and house wife and later worked and retired from Canteen Corp. in 1982. She was a member of Washington Grange 1949 , York-Adams Pomona Grange, PA State Grange and National Grange. Madaline held various offices in the Subordinate and Pomona Grange and served as pianist for many years for both. Mrs. Thoman is survived by a daughter, Jane D. Thoman of York; a cousin, Franklin Williams of York; and neighbors Lora and Len VanOudeneran to whom Madaline was very grateful for their friendship. She is also survived by sister-in-law Shelva Strayer of York, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Nancy Thoman of Temple Hills, Maryland, niece Pat Miele and nephews Stephen and Doug Strayer all of York and Bruce, Tim and Eric Thoman of Maryland. She was preceded in death by a son, Carl D. Thoman and his widow Jan; two brothers, Wayne M. and Gerald S. Strayer; and a sister, Harriet L. Strayer.
