Machiko Knaub

YORK- Machiko (Adachi) Knaub, 91 of W. Manchester Township, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Robert E. Knaub, who passed away in 1996. Services will be private. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements. Burial will be private in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Mrs. Knaub was born in Yonago, Japan on March 11, 1931, the daughter of the late Kamee and Yoshiko (Iwao) Adachi. She taught herself how to read, write and speak English fluently after arriving to the US in 1955. She raised her family and was a military wife from 1955-1972 traveling often. After raising her children, she was an outstanding worker at Graham Architectural in York until her retirement after 20 years. She jogged a mile a day, enjoyed playing BINGO, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and helping to raise them. Mrs. Knaub leaves a son, James Knaub of York; two daughters, Mary Sipkoff of York and Tina Thompson of Port Orange, FL; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Natsui Watanabe. She leaves many nieces and nephews in Japan. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Breese. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, PO Box 198, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
