Watch Video Tribute: YORK - Mabel M. "Mae" Welsh, 77, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John R. "Jack" Welsh to whom she was married for 38 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, July 17, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with her priest, Fr. Louis Petruha OFM Cap. officiating. Viewings will be held from 7-9:00 PM Thursday and 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Born March 26, 1932 in Binghamton, NY a daughter of the late Leslie M. and Mabel A. (Pratt) Marks, she was a 1950 graduate of Emporium High School. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mrs. Welsh enjoyed crewel-stitching and had won numerous first prizes for her work. As a child, she had sung at Carnegie Hall. She will be remembered as a great friend to all she encountered. Mrs. Welsh is survived by a son, Brian L. Welsh of York; and two daughters, Theresa M. "Terri" Welsh of Portland, OR and Maureen A. Welsh Horner and husband Bryan Horner of York.
