M. Dolores (Grimes) Mccarty

DOVER - M. Dolores (Grimes) McCarty, 90, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at Providence Place Senior Living. She was the loving wife of the late Edwin R. McCarty to whom she was married for 59 years.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, June 26, 2023 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Sal Buonocore officiating. Prior to the service there will be a viewing from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Born July 27, 1932 in Everett, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late John and Ethel (Baker) Grimes. After high school, Dolores attended Thompson Business School, and worked as a secretary to the president of Dentsply. She then shifted her focus to become a stay at home mom to her four children. Dolores was a long time member of Trinity United Methodist Church, York, where she enjoyed singing in their choir. She most recently became a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Dover. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, working in her flower gardens, and spending time with her family.

Dolores leaves behind a son, Greg McCarty and his wife Sue; three daughters, Susan Gantz and her late husband Robert, Terry Runk and her husband Stew, and Lori Ruppert and her husband David; seven grandchildren, Jared Runk, Jon Spahr, Tracy Panzer, Lindy Beshore, Kyla Burg, Todd Gantz, and Travis Ruppert; 13 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; two brothers, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Dolores is preceded in death by three brothers, and two sisters.
