M. Alice (Runkle) Royer

M. Alice (Runkle) Royer, 85, passed away Wednesday, May, 25, 2016 at York Hospital. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM Tuesday at the Funeral Home. Born February 23, 1931 in Felton, a daughter of the late Eli and Minnie (Flinchbaugh) Runkle, she was a 1950 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Ms. Royer had worked as a refinisher and gold leaf expert with numerous furniture manufacturers and then later retired from Caterpillar, Inc. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family and doting over her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alice’s second love was caring for and being around her animals. Ms. Royer is survived by two sons, David P.E. and wife Terese Royer of York and Steven A. and wife Marjorie Royer of Felton; a daughter, Robin L. Royer of Dallastown; five grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel, John, Joseph, and Mick Royer; a step grandson, Jeremy Portner; four great grandchildren, Wyatt, Henry, Karlee, and Landon Royer; a brother, Ed Runkle of Felton; and a sister, Janet Gladfelter of Felton. She was preceded in death by five brothers, George Raymond, John, Henry, William (who died young), and Richard Runkle; and four sisters, Elsie Overmiller, Jessie Wierman, Mardella Stern, and Edna Miller.
