LOCK HAVEN - Lynn S. “Pete” Probst, Sr., 81, passed away with his family by his side on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Haven Rehab & Skilled Nursing. Lynn was born on February 11, 1932 in Swissdale and was the son of the late Elmer E. and Eva (Helbley) Probst. He was married on November 5, 1956 to the former Marcia A. (Yahn) and they have celebrated 57 years together. Lynn was a 1950 graduate of Lock Haven High School, attended Lock Haven State Teachers College from 1950 to 1951 and then graduated in 1972 from Williamsport Area Community College, receiving an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences. He had served in the US Navy on the USS New Jersey battle ship. Lynn worked for Hammermill Paper Co. and retired in 1981 and then worked for United Paper Workers International Union and retired in 1997. He was a member of the Lock Haven First Church of Christ and was the co-founder and first president of Central Mountain ATV Association. In addition to his wife Marcia, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Lynn S. and Susan Probst, Jr. of Arvada, CO and Brian S. and Angela Probst of Northumberland, one daughter; Denise M. Probst of Westminster, CO, three grandchildren; Kyle L. Probst and his wife Jessica L. Probst of Northumberland, Jessica M. Probst of Lynchburg, VA and Hannah E. Probst of Northumberland and one brother; Lyell O. Probst of Ft. Wayne, IN. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Willard, Arthur and Carl Probst and two sisters; Vivian Royer and Audrey Probst. There will be a memorial service held 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall. Friends and family will be received one hour prior (1 to 2). Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. The family will provide the flowers and memorial contributions may be made to the Clinton County SPCA, 33 Mill Hill Rd., Lock Haven, PA 17745.
