Lyle H. Bowen, Sr.

Lyle H. Bowen, Sr., 93, died on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Nitchman) Bowen who died on May 20, 2010. The couple had been married for 59 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 18, 2021 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with Pastor Beth Schlegel officiating. A viewing will be from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Union Cemetery in East Berlin with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on April 27, 1928 in Hope, North Dakota, he was a son of the late William M. and Hattie E. (Sathre) Bowen. Lyle was a truck driver and retired from ABF Freight. Mr. Bowen was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in York. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved to travel and loved his home state of North Dakota. Lyle is survived by two sons, William C. Bowen and his wife, Ruthann of East Berlin and James A. Bowen and his wife, Lynda of Bluffton, SC; two daughters, Patricia Horn and her husband, Melchior of Palmyra and Jennifer L. O’Dell of York; daughter in law, Margaret Bowen of York; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Harry, William, David, Cora, Erin and Linda Marie; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Carol Muscha of Tampa, FL; niece, Diane Jones; and his companion, Leah Page of York; He was preceded in death by his son, Lyle H. Bowen, Jr. Serving as Pallbearers are: William C Bowen, James Bowen, Matthew Bowen, David Bowen, Harry Bowen and William J. Bowen.
