Luther G. Lieberknecht

Manchester—Luther G. Lieberknecht, 84, died Tuesday, August 06, 2013 at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Dolores M. (Miller) Lieberknecht. The couple celebrated 67 years of marriage on April 21, 2013. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10 AM, Thursday, August 8, 2013 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with Pastor Kenneth D. Keeler of Faith Bible Fellowship officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10 AM, Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be held in Machpelah Cemetery. Born October 5, 1928 in Hellam, he was a son the late Edward J. and Esther M. (Dietz) Lieberknecht. He was employed as a fire welder with Campbell Chain and later with Koppers Manufacturing where he worked until his retirement. He loved his family and the time they spent together. He enjoyed gardening and tending to odds jobs and maintenance projects around the house. In addition to his wife, Mr. Lieberknecht is also survived by one son, William G. Lieberknecht and his wife, Linda of York; one daughter, Joyce A. Sanger and her husband, Vernon of Manchester; 7 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great children and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, William G. Lieberknecht, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York Area Agency on Aging, 100 W.
