RED LION- Luther Carl Wood, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Hazel Mae (Romesberg) Wood. The couple celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary on December 24, 2021. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on March 5, 2022 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main Street, in Dallastown, with a visitation from 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York with full military honors by Dallastown American Legion. Pastor Stephany Sechrist will be officiating at the service. Olewiler Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is in charge of the services. Mr. Wood was born in Montrose, PA on June 12, 1930, the son of the late Walter L. and Charlotte M. (Honeywell) Wood. He retired in 1992 from Standard Register, where he worked as a pressman for 39 years. Mr. Wood was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown, Mt Wolfe VFW, Dallastown American Legion, Standard Register Retiree’s, Disabled American Veterans, and Dallastown Golden Agers. He was a 1949 graduate of Kingston High School in Kingston, PA. He served in the US Army in the Korean War and was awarded a Purple Heart. Mr. Wood leaves two daughters, Kathryn E. Briner of Hanover and Susan M. Ambrose of Bishopville, MD; a granddaughter Tiffany (Abel) Wolf of Lancaster, a grandson Shane Hyser of Dover, three great grandchildren Jennis Miller, Brea Shearer and Jaden Keyser. and a great, great granddaughter Nichole Miller; and two sisters, Shirley Yenalevitch and Janet Wood both of Wilkes-Barre. He was preceded in death by six siblings, Louise, Ray, Gerald, Horace, Edward, and Richard. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 109 E.
