Lucy B. Sheffer

JACOBUS- Lucy B. (Miller) Sheffer, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at York Hospital. She was the wife of George H. Sheffer, Sr. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on June 19, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York. Viewings will be held from 6-8 pm on Tuesday and 9-10 am on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York Mrs. Sheffer was born in Springfield Township on June 2, 1930, the daughter of Charles Miller and Carrie Irene (Krout) Miller Grim. She was a cafeteria worker at Springfield Elementary School in Loganville and then she worked as a custodian at the former York Gospel Center. Mrs. Sheffer was a member of North York Gospel Chapel, a former president of Jacobus Fire Company, Ladies auxiliary, and was a member of Jacobus Leisure Club. Mrs. Sheffer leaves a son, George H. Sheffer, Jr. and his wife Debra of Red Lion; two daughters, Linda L. Billet and her husband Thomas of East Prospect and Beverly A. Sheffer of Jacobus; three grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Susan Marie Billet and a brother, Clair Miller. Memorial contributions may be made to North York Gospel Chapel, 2854 Lewisberry Rd., York, PA 17404.
