Louise E. (Smith) Warfel

Louise E (Smith) Warfel, 87, died after a brief illness at York Hospital on Wednesday December 13, 2017 with family by her side. She had been a resident of Spiritrust Lutheran in Shrewsbury since August. She was the wife of the late John F. Warfel. The couple had been married for 37 years. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Salem Lutheran Church, 99 York Rd., Jacobus with Pastor Tina Minnich officiating. A viewing will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Born on January 17, 1930 in Spry, she was a daughter of the late Curtis U. and Jennie A. (Strausbaugh) Smith. Louise worked at Russ Meckley’s General Store in Spry for many years, The Festive Board Deli and McCrory’s Distribution Center. Louise had an outgoing and positive personality. She was interested in other people and many lives were touched by her caring and thoughtfulness for others. Mrs. Warfel is survived by her sister, Lucille Smith and husband, Larry of Seven Valleys; niece, Cathy Smith of Oxnard, CA; nephew, Alan Smith and his wife, Cynthia of Thousand Oaks, CA; and great niece, Caitlin Castle-Smith of Montgomery Village, MD.
