YORK- Louise E. (Poff) Hoffman, 81, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at her son’s residence. She was the wife of the late Willard Franklin Hoffman, who passed away on November 8, 2013. The couple wed on May 13, 1950 and were married for over 63 years. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown, with her pastor, the Reverend Roger Mentzer officiating. Viewings will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York and from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Heiland View Cemetery. Born on May 7, 1932 in Dallastown, she was a daughter of the late Chauncey and Mary (Blessing) Poff. Louise worked for Fulton, Mehring and Hauser Co., Inc. and was a receptionist for William Baker and Walter Zimmerman Chiropractic for over 20 years. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, Eastern Star, Ecumenical Choral Society, York Symphony Chorus, Matinee Musical Club, Golden Agers, Hanover Community Chorus and was a soloist for local area churches. Louise enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. Singing and family were her life. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by one son, David Hoffman and his wife, Robin of York; one daughter, Christine Kaltreider and her husband, Thomas of Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Emily Keys and her husband, Jonathan of Middletown, DE, Jonathan Hoffman and his wife, Jessica of York, Kathryn Markle and her husband, Andrew of York, Amy Hershey and her husband, William of Chambersburg, and Adam Kaltreider and his wife, Jennifer of Bethlehem; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Helen Brillhart of York; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Joseph Poff; and three sisters, Treva Hankey, Gladys Stoneburner and Dorothy Poff. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 109 E. Main St., Dallastown, PA 17313 or Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr., P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to Visiting Angels and Hospice and Community Care for all they have done.
