Louise A. (Baugher) Garvick

York New Salem- Louise A. (Baugher) Garvick, 82, died Saturday, June 7, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Gary W. Garvick. The couple was together for over 40 years. A private graveside service will be held at Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Garvick was born in Hanover on January 2, 1932, the daughter of the late Milton and Ada (Brenneman) Baugher. She retired from York Hospital, where she worked as a Registered Nurse in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Unit for over ten years. Prior to that she worked as a school nurse, industrial nurse, and worked for private practices. She also worked for the former Lefever, now Sonnewalt Natural Foods, where she had an interest in natural and organic foods. Mrs. Garvick was a member of First Church of the Brethren in York, where she enjoyed volunteering. She enjoyed walking and physical outdoor exercise, swimming,the beach, and playing the piano. She was a 1949 graduate of William Penn Senior High. She attended both Millersville University and Elizabethtown College and was a graduate of University of Maryland Hospital. Mrs. Garvick leaves a son, Scott M. Garvick of York, a brother, Dale Baugher of North Hero, VT, and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
