DUPONT-Lottie Wolak, 88, she resided in Dupont until she became a resident of Lackawanna County Health Care Center , Olyphant, where she passed away Thursday evening. Born in Avoca on May 31, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Henrietta (Drouse) Jackowicz. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a seamstress at Stinegut Dress Factory. Lottie was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont, where she was also a member of the Alter and Rosary Society. She loved to crochet and was known for the afghans she made. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Wolak, Sr., in 1982; infant daughter, Rosemarie; infant brother, Joseph and infant sister, Anna Jackowicz; brothers, Frank and John Jackowicz; sisters, Mary Drozjinski, Regina Maciejewski, Helen Dushok. Surviving are her son, Joseph J. Wolak, Jr. and his wife Andrea, Scranton; daughters, Dianna Shimkoski and her husband Robert, Dupont; and Barbara Melnick and her husband John, Dupont. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 9:30AM from Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc. 728 Main Street, Avoca with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Dupont with The Reverend Joseph D. Verespy officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Dupont. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent at www.BestLifeTributes.com.
