Lottie Baney Achenbach

Lottie Baney Achenbach POTTSVILLE-Lottie Baney Achenbach, 89, resident of Providence Place, Pottsville, passed away Thursday at Phoebe Nursing Home, Allentown. Born in Allentown on December 19, 1919, Lottie was a daughter of the late Charles M. and Greta Timmins Baney. Lottie was a 1937 graduate of Minersville High School. She received her Bachelor's degree in English from West Chester College and received her Master's degree as a reading specialist from Lehigh University. She was and English teacher at Minersville high school for several years. She retired from the Pottsville Area School District after 25 years serving as a remedial reading specialist. Lottie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Pottsville, where she was a Sunday school teacher for over 45 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis R. Achenbach, who passed away on November 26, 1992; her sister, Martha Tindall; her brother, Dr. Charles Baney. Lottie is survived by three sons, L. Robert Achenbach, husband of Joyce, of Pottsville, Jesse Achenbach, husband of Linda, of Pottsville and Dr. Charles Achenbach, partner of John Koretski, of Bethlehem; her five Grandchildren, Lewis R. Achenbach III, Leah Kocach, wife of Michael, Amy Johnson, wife of Jeremy, Emily Achenbach, and Dr. Kay Achenbach; her two Great Grandchildren, Caleb Kovach and Jessica Johnson; her sister, Greta Sanner, of Reading; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 10:00 A.M. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 3rd & West Arch Streets, Pottsville. Reverend Harold L. Hand, Jr. will officiate. Family and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:00 A.M. until time of service at the church. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
