Lorraine E. (Erb) Nissley

WINDSOR, PA - Lorraine E. Nissley, age 82, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16, 2011 unexpectedly at the York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Jonas L. Nissley. Leaving a legacy of faith and hope, she unceasingly prayed for each member of her family each day. Lorraine was a member of Word of Life Chapel, Bainbridge, PA where she was active in their Senior Citizens’ group. She was also was a faithful attendee at Central Manor Camp in Lancaster County. Her love of others was shown through her community involvement. Babysitting at Living Word Community Church’s Mom-to-Mom program reflected her delight in children of all ages. Born May 21, 1928 in Mt. Nebo, PA, a daughter of the late John and Estella (Hickey) Erb; Lorraine had spent many years working for Dr. Paul Hoover in Windsor and also at Nearly New Boutique at Olde Tollgate Village in York. She was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Lorraine is survived by her children including son, Stephen Nissley of Sherman Mills, ME; daughters, Sue Nelson of East Berlin, Bonnie Ranck, Leola; Robin Shoff, Dallastown; Peggy Good, Brogue; and Patricia Redmond, Felton; 24 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. Lorraine is also survived by her two sisters, Ethel Rhoades of Lancaster, and Esta Hake of Lancaster. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Jonas L. Nissley; and a son, Joey Nissley. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Visitation Hours at Life Tributes By Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion on Friday May 20, from 7 to 9 pm and a Celebration of Life Service at 11 am on Saturday May 21, at the Word of Life Chapel, 139 Wickersham Rd., Bainbridge. The service will be officiated by the Reverend Paul Habecker. Private burial will be held in Bethel U.M. Cemetery.
