Loretta Elaine Sheffer

York- Loretta Elaine “Lori” (Altland) Sheffer passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, after a brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease at Rest Haven-York Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. She was the wife of Terry Bryan Sheffer, to whom she was married for 55 years on May 20, 2022.

Lori was born in York on May 9, 1947, a daughter of the late Arthur L. and Lura L. (Lighty) Altland.

Lori worked at Voith Hydro, later retiring from Penn Air Hydraulics. She was a supporter of Goldheart, Golden Retriever Rescue. In her free time, she enjoyed making braided rugs, volunteering at York Hospital and the Dover Library, and visiting vineyards with her husband. She loved spending time at the beach with her family. Most of all, she was proud and overjoyed to be Nana to her grandsons.

She is survived by her loving husband, Terry, as well as her son, Matthew B. Sheffer and wife Elise of Harrisburg, and her daughter Heidi E. Carpenter and husband Paul of Etters. She is survived by her two grandsons, Owen and Nate Sheffer, as well as her brother Mark Altland of York, and her sisters Barb Arvin of York and Andrea Badgley of Idaho. She is preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Hamm.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York, with a visitation from 2-3 p.m. Certified Celebrant Allison Duke will be officiating the service. The service will be webcast live and can be viewed by searching Lori's obituary on HeffnerCare.com
