Lona D. (Petry) Duke

York—Lona D. (Petry) Duke, 87, died Thursday May 10, 2012 at Country Meadows of York. She was the wife of the late Lester G. Duke. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 AM, Monday May 14, 2012 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd, York. Reverend Tracy A. Conner, Chaplain at Country Meadows of York, will be officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11 AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Mt. Rose Cemetery immediately following the service. Born February 27, 1925 in York, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Anna W. (Shire) Petry. She was employed with Acme Markets for 26 years as a cashier until her retirement in 1982. Family was the most important part of her life; she especially enjoyed family trips to the mountains and beach. Mrs. Duke is survived by one son, David L. Smith and his wife, Phyllis of York; one daughter, Darla J. Kuhn and her husband, Bernard of New Oxford; 5 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren; one brother, Karl G. Petry of York and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Carson Petry. Memorial contributions may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 44 Bowman Rd, York, Pa 17404.
