Lois E. Smith

YORK—Lois E. (Lehr) Smith, 88, passed away September 10, 2024 at Providence Place of Dover. She was the wife of the late James B. Smith.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 12:30PM, Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George Street, York. Officiating the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Beth A. Schlegel, STS. A viewing will be held from 11:30AM – 12:30PM, Wednesday at the church. Burial will be held in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Born December 26, 1935 in North York Borough, she was the daughter of the late Adam H. and Nora J. (Bare) Lehr.

She was employed as an accountant for 46 years with York Electrical Supply Company (YESCO) until her retirement.

A member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and their Good News Class, she also enjoyed volunteering with the Salvation Army. In addition, she was a 1953 graduate of North York High School, a member of the Red Hatter’s and was the last of her seven siblings.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her godson, Tim Lehr and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by seven siblings; E. Sargent Lehr, Phyllis L. Charleston, Julia I. Poet, A. Henry Lehr, Dale E. Lehr, Charles R. “Peck” Lehr and John L. Lehr.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 947 N. George Street, York, Pa 17404.
