NORTH YORK- Lois M. (Wolfgang) Dittenhaffer, 89, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at her home. She was the wife of the late William E. "Bill" Dittenhaffer. The couple celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on September 19, 2016. A Memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver Street, York, with her Pastor, The Reverend Robert A. Vizthum, officiating. Burial will be private in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road in York is in charge of arrangements. Born July 26, 1927 in North York, Lois was the daughter of the late Paul C. Wolfgang, Sr. and Elsie Marie (Suereth). She was a graduate of North York, Class of 1945. Lois then attended Moore College of Art & Design. She worked in her father's candy store, D.E. Wolfgang Candy Co., and later as a colorist for Henry M. Blattner Photography. Mrs. Dittenhaffer was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church and the York Art Association. She enjoyed gardening, painting, golf, bowling and playing cards. Mrs. Dittenhaffer leaves a son, Scott E. Dittenhaffer and wife, Maurina of York; three daughters, Joan E. Farence and husband, Dale of York, Susan M. Miley and husband Dennis of York, and Nancy E. Doll and husband, Jeffrey of Winchester, VA; nine grandchildren, Amy, Timothy, Jessica, Jackie, Angie, Molly, Allison, Courtney, and Brittany; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Wolfgang and wife, Ruth of York, and Doug Wolfgang and wife, Susan of York; numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat Dusty. In addition to her husband and parents, Lois was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Doll, and a brother, Paul C. "Bud" Wolfgang, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to either the York Art Association, 220 S. Marshall St., York, PA 17402; Hospice & Community Care, 685 Good Dr., Lancaster, PA 17601, or Messiah United Methodist Church, 1300 N. Beaver St., York, PA 17404.
