Lois (Frantz) Swain

Lois (Frantz) Swain, 100, of Walnut Creek, OH and formerly of Etters, died February 1, 2016 at the Walnut Hills Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Richard H. Swain whom she married on September 24, 1937. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 8, 2016 at Beaver Urich Funeral Home, Inc., 305 West Front Street, Lewisberry with Rev. Calvin Cutting officiating. Friends may call beforehand from 10-11:00 AM Monday at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in Tri-County Memorial Gardens. Lois was born in Bressler, PA on July 21, 1915 to the late Elmer and Elsie (Valentine) Frantz. She spent the greater part of her life in the area of Harrisburg where she worked as a legal secretary and then for the PA Bar Association Insurance Fund. She was a member of Bressler Community Church and later of Grace Baptist Church of Lewisberry. Upon retirement in 1976, she and her husband joined Crossworld and moved to northern Brazil to help missionaries who were working with indigenous groups. Lois aided by typing and producing translated Scripture as well as educational materials. She also served as base hostess for a time. The couple returned to the U.S. permanently in 1985. Most recently she lived in the nursing home in Walnut Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers, Edgar Frantz and Paul Frantz. She is survived by her son, Harris and wife Laurel Swain, of Millersburg, OH; her daughter, Carole Swain, of Walnut Creek; a granddaughter, Kelly and husband Brian Guistwhite, of Etters; a great-grandson, Alex Guistwhite; and nieces Winnie Sulzer of Georgetown, DE and Bev Novosel of Nottingham, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grace Baptist Church of Lewisberry, 780 Woodland Ave., Lewisberry PA 17339 for the camp fund which she initiated.
