Lois A. (Harkins) Hughes

LEWISBERRY- Lois A. (Harkins) Hughes, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 22, 2015. She was the wife of Sidney E. Hughes to whom she was married 61 years. Born June 23, 1934 in Harrisburg, Lois was a daughter of the late Russell and Elizabeth (Erb) Harkins. Mrs. Hughes was a lifelong member of the Lewisberry United Methodist Church where she was active in the Women’s Circle. Lois displayed a great faith in God. She loved music and was a wonderful homemaker who was devoted to her loving family. In addition to her husband Sidney, Mrs. Hughes is survived by a daughter, Linda Kay Garner and her husband Joseph of Lewisberry; three grandchildren, Joseph Garner, Jr. and his wife Emily of New Cumberland, Tonya Daldo and her husband Richard Jr. of Etters, and Heather Grove and her husband Joshua of Etters; four great grandchildren Mackenzie and Makayla Daldo, and Matthew and Jaxson Grove; a brother, William Harkins and his wife Sheila of Dover; four sisters, Jean Law, Shirley Johnson of Strinestown, Betty Kohr and her husband Wayne of York Haven, and Pat Snellbaker and husband Donald of York Haven, and several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Lois was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. A Celebration of Life tribute service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Lewisberry United Methodist Church, 309 Market Street, Lewisberry, with her Pastor, The Reverend Janie Harrison officiating. A viewing will be held from 10-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will be in St. John’s Lewisberry Cemetery. Beaver-Urich Funeral Home, 305 W. Front Street, Lewisberry, is in charge of arrangements.
