Lloyd W. Eberly, 79, died on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of Phyllis L. (Smeltzer) Eberly, to whom he was married for 53 years. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, with his pastor, Robert R. Jacobs officiating. A viewing will be held 9-10:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Cemetery with full military honors provided for by the York County Honor Guard. Born on April 1, 1930 in York, a son of the late Lloyd E. and Cordie M. (Wallick) Eberly, he was a 1949 graduate of Red Lion High School. He was a former employee of Olin Corporation for over 30 years until his retirement in 1993. Mr. Eberly was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church in Felton. He served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Cabot CUL 28, and USS Wright CUL 49 during the Korean War. Mr. Eberly enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Penn State football games. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Mr. Eberly is survived by a son, Scott P. Eberly and wife, Karen G. of Sparks, MD; a daughter, Susan L. Miller and husband, Yuhri A. of York; three grandchildren, Michelle K. Eberly, Matthew L. Eberly, and Nicholas S. Michael; a brother Ray D. Eberly; a sister Lucille Bentzel; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Lois Ropp. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany United Methodist Church, 49 High St., Felton, PA, 17322 or to SPCA, 3159 Susquehanna Trail N., York, PA, 17402.
