Linwood V. Hess

LEWISBURG - Linwood V. Hess, 85, died on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the Highlands Care Center, Laporte. Linwood was born in Duboistown on December 6, 1923 and was a son of the late Curtis and Florence (Mumma) Hess. He was married to the former Sara L. (Ditzler) on November 17, 1949, who survives and now resides at the Highlands Care Center, Laporte. Linwood was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had served during WWII and the Korean War. He was a truck driver for Professional Drivers Service and retired in 1986. He was a member of the Masons of Charity, Lodge 144 Lewisburg, Williamsport Consistory of the Scottish Rite, Elks and American Legion of Lewisburg. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister; Mazie Jane Burkhart of Trout Run and nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers; Thomas, Curtis and Stanley. In keeping with Linwood's wishes, there will be no public viewing. The graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 at the Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Linwood may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are being handled by the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front Street, Milton, PA 17847.
