Linda J. (Glackin) Bacon

Brogue- Linda J. (Glackin) Bacon, 76, died on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at her residence. She was the wife of Jay B. Bacon. The couple were high school sweethearts at Red Lion High School, had been together 61 years and wed on May 27, 1967 in McKendree United Methodist Church.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2024 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Allison Duke officiating. A viewing will be from 9-10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in McKendree Cemetery.

Born on April 18, 1947 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Eugene S. and Edna M. (Walker) Glackin. Linda was Secretary to the Treasurer at S. Grumbacher & Son (The Bon-Ton) for many years.

Mrs. Bacon was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church and a former member of the Southern York County Garden Club. She owned and enjoyed riding horses with Jay on the state game lands to Indian Steps. She loved gardening, arranging flowers, art, painting, hunting, boating, deep-sea fishing and antiquing. She traveled to many states as well as to London, Paris and Italy. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Along with her husband, Jay, Linda is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. Adams and her husband, Paul of Dallastown; three grandchildren, James S. Taylor, III of York, Gabriel S. Adams of Dallastown; and Quinn A. Adams of Dallastown; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace Keyser.
