Lilian Barsovitz

FELTON- Lilian “Lily” (Gowland) Barsovitz, 94, of Chanceford Twp. Passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Joseph Martin Barsovitz. A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday May 2, 2018 at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens in York. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Life tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion is assisting the family with the arrangements. Mrs. Barsovitz was born in Durham, England on March 22, 1924, the daughter of the late George Stephenson and Rose Annie (Young) Gowland. She worked at McDonald’s on Memory Lane in York, where she was known as the biscuit lady and later worked at Hoss’s in East York. Mrs. Barsovitz was a member of the Susquehanna Senior Center in Wrightsville. Mrs. Barsovitz leaves three daughters, Rosemary E. Fleury of Las Vegas, Barbara G. Barsovitz-Hines of Felton, and Marlene Boyd of Annville; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a great, great grandson, James, and a sister, Elaine Stephens. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Georgia Ness, Joanne Krall, and Susan Arlene Heist; as well as two sisters, Jenny and Mary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susquehanna Senior Center, 2427 Craley Rd., Wrightsville, PA 17368.
