MILTON- Lewis F. "Pat" Rantz, 84, of Milton, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of the late Mary K. (Rogers) Rantz. Lewis was born on April 9, 1924 in Milton, son of the late George Franklin and Louella Mae (Bartlow) Rantz. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran. In 1942 Lewis shipped out of Miles Standish in Boston, MA and landed in Liverpool, England, where he was involved in the E.T.O. (European Theatre Operations) during World War II. During the Korean War he trained troops at Camp Attabury, IN. He retired after thirty years of service to his country in both the U.S. Army and the Army National Guard. Lewis then came home to Milton, to work as a furnace operator for ACF, and retired after forty years of service. He is a life member of the VFW and the American Legion in Milton, and was a former member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. Lewis is survived by his son Michael T. (Deb Lee) Rantz of Milton, PA, his daughters: Connie K. (Ned) Germini, Leisa E. Rantz, both of Milton, and Linda M. Hackenberg, of Navarre, FL, his grandchildren: Jessica, Nicole, Erica, Amber, Chelsea, Brandon, Ashley, Carl, Christopher, Debbie, and Curtis, his great grandchildren: Aidan, Everett, and Kiley. Lewis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, and his sister Florence Mitch. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, Inc. 125 North Front Street Milton, PA. The funeral service to honor Lewis' life will be held at 2:00 PM at the funeral home with Reverend Keith Mowen, officiating. Military rites will be given after the funeral service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Twin Hills Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be given in Lewis' name to the Evangelical Community Hospital Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
