GLEN ROCK- Lester T. Godfrey, 84, died on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at his residence. He was the husband of Elsie I. (Smith) Godfrey. The couple wed on May 23, 1953. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Codorus Church of the Brethren, 1129 Dunkard Valley Rd., Dallastown, PA 17313 with Pastor Richard Godfrey of Gettysburg Church of the Brethren officiating. Viewings will be from 7-9 p.m. on Friday at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, adjacent to Pleasant View Church, Winterstown. Born on October 20, 1932 in Glen Rock, he was a son of the late Earl and Rhoda (Krebs) Godfrey. Lester was the founding owner of L.T. Godfrey Excavating & Paving since 1959. As time passed, his sons joined him in his business throughout the years. Mr. Godfrey enjoyed blue grass music, working at the York Co. Fair, farming, raising cattle, watching the news and traveling to Florida. Along with his wife, Elsie, Lester is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Godfrey and wife, Tammie of Glen Rock and Jay Godfrey and wife, Jill of Felton; one daughter, Joyce Rohrbaugh and husband, Allen of Stewartsown; five grandchildren, Thomas Godfrey, Timothy Godfrey, Joelle Godfrey, Jayla Godfrey and Rochelle Gossman; one step grandson, Scott Rohrbaugh; four great grandchildren, Landon Godfrey, Dylen Godfrey, Ethan Godfrey and Laney Rohrbaugh; one brother, Clarence “Bud” Godfrey and wife, Darlene of Glen Rock; and one sister, Miriam Waltemyer and husband, Jim of Red Lion. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Judy and Jean Godfrey; and two brothers, Marvin Godfrey and Earl “Babe” Godfrey, Jr. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy Hospital’s Heat-It to Beat-It Campaign Oncology Department, 345 St. Paul Pl., Baltimore, MD 21202.
