DOVER- Lester R. Warner, 86, went to be with his Lord and Savior at home, with his family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Shirley A. (Miller) Warner. The couple had been married for over 53 years. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2011 at New Life Assembly of God, 2136 Baltimore Pike, East Berlin, PA 17316, with Pastor Joel Everhart officiating. A viewing will be from 12:30-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be held at St. Pauls Union Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Warner was born on September 18, 1924 in York, a son of the late Harry R. & Mamie M. (Hilbert) Warner. Les worked as a Pretzel Baker for Nabisco for 32 years until his retirement in 1975. He later worked construction for Harold Hogg and Richard Poole. Mr. Warner was a member of New Life Assembly of God in East Berlin. Mr. Warner was an avid gardener and hunter. He was a charter member of Big Pine Hunting Camp in Huntingdon, PA. He also had a passion for baseball. Les coached the 8-12 year olds in Weigelstown and led them to a York County Championship. Most importantly, he was a devoted family man and had a passion and love for all of them. Along with his wife, Shirley, Mr. Warner is survived by two sons, Scott A. Warner and his wife, Deborah of Dover Twp. and Brian L. Warner and his wife, Melissa of Huntingdon, PA; a daughter, Carla R. Ehrman and her husband, David of Dover Twp.; 11 grandchildren, Philip and his wife, Carrie, and Jennifer Warner, Abraham, Adam, Abigail, Aaron, Amos and Andrew Warner and Gabriel, Joshua, and Sarah Ehrman; two sisters, Geraldine Dolly Emig of Dover and Phyllis Street of York; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Sherman Warner and Tommy Warner. Memorial contributions may be made to New Life Assembly of God, 2136 Baltimore Pike, East Berlin, PA 17316
