YORK - Lester L. Yingling, 80, died at 4:45 pm Monday, September 8, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of Thelma M. (Little) Ellis Yingling who died March 1, 1999. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with the Rev. Edward J. Ross, III, pastor of Springwood Chapel, officiating. Burial with full military honors by the York County Veterans Honor Guard will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Viewing will be 1 to 2 pm Thursday at the chapel. Mr. Yingling was born February 16, 1928, in York. He was the son of the late William A. and Blanche E. (Schrom) Yingling. He was an upholstery cutter with the former Cole Steel in York, retiring in 1990 after many years with the company. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II and had been a member of the Viking Athletic Association. Mr. Yingling leaves four grandchildren, Angela F. Kern and husband, D. Brian, Lori A. Rumberger and husband, Scott T., Jennifer L. Strasbaugh and husband Jeffrey, and Charles A. Fantom, III and wife, Melaney; six great grandchildren, Amy R. Hess, Lorin N. Rumberger, Nicholas S. Rumberger, Zachary R. Strasbaugh, Rylie M. Strasbaugh and Emma Pearl Fantom; a niece and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was also preceded death by a daughter, Judy Ann (Ellis) Hannigan in 1991 and a brother, Clarence E. Yingling in 2007. Memorial contributions may be made to Stand Up to Cancer, File 1224, 1801 W.
