Lester E. Schmuck

FELTON- Lester E. Schmuck, 92, died on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late MaryEllen (Downs) Schmuck, who died on June 3, 2003. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Jessica R. Smith officiating. A viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Trinity Church Cemetery with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Born on February 22, 1924 in Felton, he was the son of the late Ervin E. and Annie L. (Smuck) Schmuck. Lester worked maintenance for Flinchbaugh Division of General Defense Corporation, now General Dynamics. Mr. Schmuck served our country for two years in the U.S. Army during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Schmuck was a member of Bethany U.M. Church in Felton. Lester enjoyed hunting, traveling to his cabin, baseball and wrestling. Lester is survived by two sons, Keith E. Schmuck and his wife Deborah of Felton and Kevin E. Schmuck and his wife, Eileen of Felton; one daughter, Stephanie E. Wiles of Vanderbilt, MI; 10 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and close friend, Viola Booth. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Shaffer. Memorial contributions may be made to the York County Veterans Honor Guard, P.O. Box 712, Mt. Wolf, PA 17347.
