Lester A. Ferree

YORK – Lester A. Ferree, 95, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Senior Commons at Powder Mill. He was the husband of the late Leonarda S. (Malek) Ferree. Born September 9, 1920 in Loganville, a son of the late Eli and Edna (Stine) Ferree, he graduated from Glen Rock High School. Mr. Ferree retired from Motor Freight Express and was an avid golfer, handyman and collector. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mr. Ferree was a US Army Air Corps veteran of WWII where he earned four Bronze Battle Stars. Mr. Ferree is survived by a son, Timothy L. and wife Nancy Ferree of Eads, TN; two daughters, Sandra J. Baron and companion Robert J. Pampin of Leesburg, FL and Felicia S. and husband Jan Dell of York; five grandchildren, Melissa SanGiacomo, Nicolas and Michael Buonagurio, Jennifer Wallace, and Ashley Thompson; four great grandchildren, Taylor Wallace, Madelyn Wallace, Zachary “Ty” Thompson and Allie Thompson; and a sister, Grace E. Schuchart of Glen Rock. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerold L. Ferree; and three brothers, Wilson, Merle and Kenneth Ferree. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, April 1, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with family friend, Pastor Jerry L. Wise, Jr. officiating. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 AM Friday at the Funeral Chapel. Private interment will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
