LeRoy D. Heib, 85, of Gillett, PA passed away on Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Troy Community Hospital. He was the loving husband of Concetta (Maione) Heib. The couple married September 15, 1982 and had 27 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 and again on Thursday May 27th at the Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main St. Troy, PA. The funeral service to honor Roy's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 28, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Alan Goss of the Gillett Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow the service in Oak Hill Cemetery with Military Honors given by the Troy Veterans Honor Guard. Roy was born on April 30, 1925 in Blossburg, PA, son of the late LeRoy Heib and Ethel (Shaw) Heib Shaylor. After moving to Elmira, NY as a child, Roy graduated from Southside High School. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 85th Regiment of the 10th Mountain Division as a Ski Trooper, and fought in Italy, Austria, and Yugoslavia as an Assistant Squad Leader. Roy had several businesses including: being a dairy farmer from 1949 to 1976, was a heavy equipment business owner, was a South Creek Township Supervisor for 16 years, and worked for Tri-County Electric for 23 years where he started out as a lineman and was moved to Supervisor. Roy's memberships include: Troy V.F.W. Post 8675, Troy Vet's Club, the Morris Run American Legion Post 0167, Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, the National Association of the 10th Mountain Division 85-C, Trojan Lodge # 306 of Free & Accepted Masons, the Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of the Valley of Towanda, the Wheel Inn of Roaring Branch, PA, the Moose Lodge # 429 of Canton, PA, the Hillside Rod and Gun Club of Blossburg, PA, and the Arnot Sportsman's Association of Arnot, PA. Roy is survived by his wife Concetta, his children: Linda (Tom) Manley of Gillett, PA, Jan (Dick) Van Gorden of Horseheads, NY, and Mary (Don) Gorst of Elmira, NY, his step children: Frank R. (Liz) Salatino of Lawrenceville, PA, Doreen (Brian) Weidner of Stafford, VA, Frank V. (Teresa) Salatino of Gillett, PA, and Tami (John) Bernheisal of Bolivia, NC, 16 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. Roy was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Heib.
