Leonard I. Hurwitz, 90, died Monday, December 27, 2010 at his residence in Monroe Twp., NJ. He was born May 20, 1920 in Austin, PA, the son of Barney and Freida (Mamolen) Hurwitz. Len was married to the former Ruth F. Yatt who died January 1, 1985. They were married for 37 years. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. He founded Eagle Construction Company. He was a member of Congregation Ohev Sholom. He served on the board of directors and was a member of the Mens Club. He was a coach for the John Bower Sunday School Basketball League Len was an avid tennis player. He is survived by his special friend Micki Galen of Monroe Twp., NJ, his three sons Marvin of Williamsport, Danny of Bedford, MA and David of San Jose, CA, and his five grandchildren Jason, Jeremy, Ronia, Addie and Elijah. He is also survived by his older brother Melvin of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Kaplan and Julia Chor. The Funeral service will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 30, 2010 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira Street, with his son, Marvin, officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Ohev Sholom Cemetery. In keeping with Jewish tradition, there are no flowers. Memorial contributions can be made to the Williamsport Federation of Jewish Charities, 475 E. Fifth Ave., Apt., #2, S. Williamsport, PA 17702 or the American Cancer Society, 1948 E. Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701 Memorials: Thursday, December 30, 2010, 1:00 P.M. Cemetery: Ohev Sholom Cemetery Visitation: Noon - 1:00 P.M.
