YORK - Leonard F. "Bud" Henry, Jr. passed away on August 8, 2009 at 11:26 p.m. at Memorial Hospital. He was the loving husband of Nancy G. (Reichard) Henry to whom he was married for 61 years. A funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2009 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York, with his pastor, the Rev. Brian A. McClinton officiating. Viewings will be held 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Shaffer's Union Cemetery. Mr. Henry was born on February 11, 1921, in Hanover Junction, a son of the late Leona (Wertz) and Leonard Freeman Henry, Sr. He served in the US Army Air Force as a radio operator from August 1942 - October 1945, in the Southwest Pacific Theater in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was in the 65th Troop Carrier Squadron. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal He was employed as a television repair technician and retired from RCA Corporation after 32 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. He was also a member of Glen Rock American Legion and was an avid bowler and golfer. In addition to his wife Nancy, he is also survived by a daughter Carolyn Woodring of York; a son, Robert F. Henry of Albany, N.Y. and wife, Julie A. Samson of Preston Hollow, N.Y.; four grandchildren, J. Andrew Woodring and wife, Karen of Mechanicsburg, Rachel Holtzman and husband, Donald of Port Orchard, WA, and Ann Henry and Leonard P. Henry of Preston Hollow, N.Y; four great grandchildren, Cassidy, Dane, and Carly Holtzman all of Port Orchard, WA., and Alex Woodring of Mechanicsburg; and a niece, Susan Blevins of Clearwater, F.L. He was preceded in death by his twin sister Phyllis Jury who died in 2004. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
