Leona Lavette Keatts, 46, of Hanover Twp., passed away peacefully Saturday December 25, 2010, in Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre following a battle with cancer. Leona was born in Wilkes-Barre July 14, 1964. She graduated from G.A.R. High School. She attended Misericordia University and Luzerne County Community College to further her education. Leona was recently studying to become a court reporter. Leona was a hard worker and had several jobs. Her most recent job was at Technaglas where she was an inspector and a first responder. Leona enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family at the timeshare. She also enjoyed watching movies, walking, and most importantly spending time with her family. Leona was a family person and known for her warm smile. She enriched lives of all that knew her. She was truly a special person whose spirit will be felt by her family and friends for generations to come. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Loretta Bell; grandfather, Harold Murray; brother, Ron Quiller; uncle, Rodney Smith. Surviving are her mother, Ernestine (Flakes) Jones who is known as Tina the Lollipop Lady, Wilkes-Barre; father, Maynard Keatts, Shickshinny; brothers, Bryandt Shelly, Wilkes-Barre; Brandon Keatts, Wilkes-Barre; Abdu Keatts, Wilkes-Barre; Aubrey Keatts, Wilkes-Barre; sister, Lanee Keatts, Wilkes-Barre; niece, Shamicka Harris, Wilkes-Barre; nephews, Je-Vondrea McClair, Wilkes-Barre; Jeshon Copeland, Virginia; Carlton Quiller, Wilkes-Barre. The family would like to thank everyone at Hospice Community Care, Wilkes-Barre, where she received outstanding care. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Kniffen OMalley Funeral Home Inc., 465 S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Shawn Walker will officiate. Friends may call Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday January 8, 2010 at 3p.m. at Duryea Kingdom Hall, 50 Foote Avenue, Duryea.
