Leona L. (Lynn) Bower

MILTON - Leona L. (Lynn) Bower, 89, died on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Riverwoods Nursing Home, Lewisburg. Leona was born on February 23, 1921 in Berwick and was the daughter of the late Christopher and Martha (Cain) Lynn. She was a graduate of Danville Area High School, class of 1938. On August 9, 1947, she married the late Frederick N. "Fred" Bower and had celebrated 57 years of marriage until his death in 2005. Leona was employed by Sears Roebuck Co., in Milton for 23 years and retired in 1989. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Milton. She was also a member of the Women's Club where she served as secretary at one time, AARP, Turbot Grange where she was an officer at one time, Red Hats Society, various card clubs and President of Turbot Homemakers. She was a former member of the St. John's United Methodist Church where she was secretary of Sunday School at one time. She had done aquatics for many years at the YMCA where she was a member. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband and arranging flowers. Leona is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Fred Neil and Anne Bower, Jr. of Fargo, ND and Jacob E. "Jake" and Susan Bower of Sewell, NJ, one grandson; Corey C. Bower of Fargo, ND and one sister; Esther Cotner of Washingtonville.. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by seven brothers; Walter, Harry, Woodrow "Woody", Thomas, Chris, Robert, and Ralph "Jack" and three sisters; Loretta, Annabelle and Edith. There will be a public viewing from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Dale E. Ranck Funeral Service, 125 N. Front St., Milton with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. The Reverend Stephen G. Shirk will officiate the services. Burial will follow in the Harmony Cemetery, Milton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Susquehanna Unit, 1948 East Third Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
