Leona J. Schellhase

YORK-Leona Jane (Kauffman) Schellhase, 95, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Garnet E. Schellhase. The couple had celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary at the time of his passing. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 12, 2018 at Spiritrust Lutheran, The Village at Kelly Drive, in the Fellowship Room, 750 Kelly Drive in York, with a visitation from 9:30-10 a.m. Certified Celebrant Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements. Burial of her cremains will be held privately in Norland Cemetery in Chambersburg. Mrs. Schellhase was born in Scotland, PA on August 9, 1923, the daughter of the late Ambrose J. and Bessie V. (Henry) Kauffman. Mrs. Schellhase participated in the faith community at Spirittrust Lutheran. She and her husband had the opportunity to travel extensively and attend many elder hostels. Mrs. Schellhase leaves a son, Jan B. Schellhase of York. She is survived by a brother and preceded in death by three sisters. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
