Leona M. Deal

YORK- Leona M. (Hornberger) Deal, 91, died on Monday, November 11, 2024 at Autumn House East. She was the wife of the late Donald L. Deal. The couple had been married for nearly 70 years until his passing in 2022.

Services for Mrs. Deal are private at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Pl., Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.

Born on May 26, 1933 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Grace (Seabrease) Hornberger. After high school, Leona worked at C&P Telephone Co. and then worked as a cafeteria worker for the Baltimore County School District for 28 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Deal enjoyed playing sports in her younger years, bowling, camping, playing the accordion and crocheting. Most importantly, she was a loving mother and grandmother.

Leona is survived by her three daughters, Janice Teal and her husband, Melvin of Berkley Springs, WV, Sharon Huebschman and her husband, Wayne of York and Donna Grim and her husband, Mike of Topsham, ME; five grandchildren, Rick, Dawn, Lisa, Missy and Michael; eight great grandchildren, Lindsey, Megan, Jamie, Autumn, Damien, Joshua, Hannah and Ethan; two great great grandchildren, Christina and Avery; brother, Joseph Hornberger and his wife, Peg of Hedgesville, WV; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Grace E. Hornberger; and brother, Vernon E. Hornberger, Jr.
