WILLIAMSPORT - Leon H. Kriner, 90, died Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at his home. He was born February 25, 1922 in Watsontown and was the son of the late Earnie E. and Dorothy (Diehl) Kriner. He graduated from Williamsport High School, class of 1941. Leon was a Sergeant in the Army during World War II, in China, Burma and India Theater, in which he recieved many medals including the bronze star. Leon was married to the former Geraldine M. (Tacka), until her death in 1976. He retired from Pennsylvania Rail Road and Con Rail in 1982 after 40 years of service, as an engineer. Leon was a member of Lodge #106/F. & A.M., the A.A.S.R./Valley of Williamsport, the Zafar Grotto Rafaz Club, the American Legion Post 0268, the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers, and the Highland Lake. He also served as president of Lockwood Rod and Gun Club Inc. for many years, and also served as the secretary-treasurer for two decades. He was a life member of NRA, and the VFW Post 7863. Leon is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; James L. and Joan L. Kriner, of Williamsport and J. Scott and Loretta M. Kriner of South Williamsport, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, Leon was preceded in death by one brother; Donald and one sister; Mildred. There will be a graveside service at Wildwood Cemetery, 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 with the Pastor John Staje officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 457 Market Street, Williamsport, PA 17701.
