GRANVILLE SUMMIT- Leon "Jake" Darrow, 82, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2007 at Bradford County Manor. He was the husband of Winona M. (Rought) Darrow of Granville Summit, to whom he married on June 6, 1969. The couple had 37 happy years together. Family and friends are welcome to a graveside service honoring Jake's life at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 1, 2007 in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy, PA. His pastor, Rev. Francis Montgomery, will be officiating. The Gerald W. Vickery, Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA has been entrusted with the arrangements. Jake was born January 14, 1925 in West Burlington, PA. He was the son of the late Leon "Tink" and Beatrice (Beach) Darrow. Jake was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1944. He was a member of the West Burlington United Methodist Church. Jake retired from G.T.E. of Ohio where he was a Lineman or "Pole Climber" as he referred to himself. He also worked in forestry and as a planner for the Conservation District of Bradford County, PA. Jake is a West Burlington Township Supervisor, a member of the Troy Fire Company's Fire Police, and was a member of the Morris Run American Legion #167 and the Moose Lodge of Canton, PA. Jake is survived by his wife Winona, his sons: Jon (Terrie) Darrow of Columbia Crossroads, PA and James Darrow of Mansfield, Ohio, his daughter, Pat (Charles) Hall of Granville Summit, PA, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, a brother, Gerald Darrow of Wisconsin, and his three sisters: Vera Harper of Granville Summit, PA, Marcella Williams of Wellsboro, PA, and Janet (Earl) Stanton of Elmira, NY, along with several nieces and nephews. Jake is preceded in death by his parents, his son Gerald, who passed away in 2001 and his brother, Carl Darrow. In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions may be made in Jake's memory to the West Burlington United Methodist Church, RR 3 Box 457 Troy, PA 16947 or to the Troy Fire Company, Box 152, Troy, PA 16947.
