North York- Leo M. Hissong, 76, of York, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Nancy L. (Bury) Hissong. The couple celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 19, 2007. A Celebration of Life Service will be 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with full military honors by York County Veterans Honor Guard. There will be a visitation from 6-7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The Reverend Mitchell Galloway will be officiating at the service. Mr. Hissong was born in Wilmar, CA on March 5, 1931, a son of the late Milo M. and Dorothy M. (Simon) Hissong. He retired as an optician for Dr. Loretta Schmidgall's office. Prior to that he worked for East Coast Optical, Dr. London, Dr. Everhart, Berg Electronics, Brown's Glass, Hilbert Optical, Bon Ton, McCrory's, and Parr's. He was a member of Hawk's Gunning Club, United States Tennis Association, served on Board of Directors of Tennis for "Kids", was a tennis director at Farquhar Park, a member of Yorktowne Racquet and Fitness Center, was an active participant in the Senior Games in York, and volunteered for York Day Nursery and Hayshire Elementary School. He was a US Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. Along with his wife Nancy, he leaves three daughters, Margaret Marks, and her husband Bob, Karen Kauffman and her husband Tom, and Jennifer Holder and her husband Randy, all of York, five grandchildren: Jeff and Jason Matson, Kelli and Kristi Kauffman, and Bryan Holder all of York, a great granddaughter Olivia Matson and one great grandchild on the way, a brother Marcus Hissong of Murrieta, CA and cousins, nieces and nephews. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tennis For "Kids", 953 S. Royal Street, York, PA 17402, or York Day Nursery, 450 East Philadelphia Street, York, PA 17403.
