Lena Kay Johnson

SEVEN VALLEYS – Lena Kay (King) Johnson, 71, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at her home. She was the wife of Gregg E. Niedererr, to whom she had been together with for 24 years. Born September 25, 1949 in Airville, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Clara (Joines) King. Mrs. Johnson was a 1967 graduate of Red Lion School High School graduate, and from there she attended the former Tennessee Temple Baptist University and later received her Bachelor’s degree from York College. Early in her career she was a teacher at New Freedom Christian School, then moved to teaching assistant at LIU and York Vo-Tech. After that, she retired as a supervisor for Children and Youth in York County. After retirement she worked as a care giver. Mrs. Johnson loved to travel to the beach and to the mountains with her husband. When she wasn’t traveling, she loved to look at flowers, and for a while, was the manager of the greenhouse at Christmas Tree Hill. She was a proficient piano player, and loved spending time with her dachshunds. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her husband, Gregg Edward Niedererr; two sons, Jeremy Ray Johnson and his wife, Rachel of Dallastown and Jesse Thomas Johnson and his partner Zoe Travers, of Glen Rock; five grandchildren, Kara Johnson, Eve Johnson, Lillah Johnson, Wren Johnson, and Fox Johnson; and a daughter in law; Monica Johnson. She is preceded in death by two brothers; Larry King, and Ray King. Memorial contributions can be made to AseraCare Hospice Care, 984 Loucks Rd Suite I, York, PA 17404. All services will be private.
