Leanne Joy Hill

RED LION – Leanne Joy (Golden) Hill, 85, passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning of December 31, 2022. She was married to the late Robert M. Hill for 49 years. Since his passing in July 2007, Leanne resided in their home until 2022 when she moved to the home of her son, Eric and wife Michelle in Red Lion.

Born September 2, 1937 in Spring Grove, a daughter of the late Roy E. and Ruth O. (Zeigler) Golden; she was a graduate of Spring Grove High School. Mrs. Hill then served in the US Air Force. Following her military service, she had worked at Eckerd Drug Store in Manchester and then at Roundtown Elementary School until her retirement in 2017. Leanne was a devoted and active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She was a wonderful person who enjoyed serving others, taking walks with her dog Penny. The family wants to extend special thanks to her wonderful neighbors who meant the world to Leanne.

She was a wonderful and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Hill will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her, including her son, Eric Hill and his wife Michelle; her daughter, Karen Petron and her husband Tom; grandchildren, Robert Hill and wife Kate, Dexter Petron and wife Stephanie, Christian Petron, and Grace Petron; her great grandchildren, Payton, Cayden, Rylynn, Koltyn, and Robby; a sister, Cynthia A. Breeden; and was a loving “dog mom” to Penny. She was preceded in death by a sister, Beverly J. Miller.

A Celebration of Life Tribute Service held at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 11, 2023 at Zion Lutheran Church, 2215 Brandywine Lane, York with full military honors presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.
