Lawrence Turi

LOCUST GROVE, GEORGIA - Lawrence Turi, 94, formerly of Williamsport, died on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Piedmont Henry Hospital, Stockbridge, GA. He was married to the late Marie (Leberto) on January 30, 1941 and spent 51 years together before her death on July 19, 1992. Lawrence was born on March 7, 1919 in Ralston and was the son of the late Augusto and Maria F. (Tagliaboschi) Turri. He had worked for Schnadig Corp, Montoursville for over 30 years and retired in 1981. He was a member of the National Guard. He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Church and then later to St. Ann Roman Catholic Church, Williamsport. He was also a member of the White Deer Golf Club. He loved to bowl, play golf, hunt and fish. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Dennis R. and Ann Turi of Locust Grove, GA and Larry L. and Ruthann Turi of DeLand, FL, five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one sister; Lucy Miles of Lancaster. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Joe and Angelo Turi and four sisters; Mary Ricci, Emily Tedesco, Jenny Borosco and Rosie Miles. There will be a public viewing from 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 800 Mulberry St., Montoursville with the Reverend John K. Manno officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1948 East Third St., Williamsport, PA 17701.
